Inron MY803 - The Poor Man's Hinderer XM-18

It's a quite big folder it's even bigger than the Enlan EL01. Its handle is also oversized so it fits well large or gloved hands too. Although its overall size is bigger than the EL01, the blade of the Enlan has a longer cutting edge.

Pros:
- excellent fit and finish
- ergonomic handle with carbon fibre like G10 scale
- because of its slim design it carries surprisingly well in the pocket
- solid lock up without any blade play
- drilled steel liners for weight reduction

Cons:
- average flipping action out of the box (it needs wrist flick to open)
- no lock bar limiter (altering the position of the pocket clip could solve this)

You can buy it at Exduct in black, orange and khaki color: ***HERE***.

Spyderco Mule MT02 M4

Finished a while back but forgot to post pictures up!

Details of the Mule projects can be found here: Spyderco Site
Blades are released using the same design but in different steels, giving people the opportunity to try them out.

This commission was for handling a Mule in M4 steel, putting on Maroon Micarta scales and making a leather sheath.

I think it's a bit nice and want to get some maroon micarta for my own use now!!

Just a simple kitchen knife.

Nothing exciting, I just like the wood - Turkish Walnut.

It's gun stock 'scraps'. Really beautiful stuff when oiled. Brown with black ripples through it.

Two packages in the post.

These two items turned up the other day.

A brand new Cold Steel Trailmaster and a gorgeous block of stabilised Horse Chestnut Burr.

The handle of the Trailie has been removed already and the Horse Chestnut is going to form most of the new handle with a bit of buffalo horn and some more brass thrown in too.

The job I like the least when knifemaking.

If someone was to ask me what I like the least in knifemaking, I wouldn't even need to think about what to say - filing slots for guards!

It is such a frustratingly slow job and if you take off too much, you'll be left with a gap so have to start again. The aim is to have a joint between the knife blade and guard material that is nice and sharp with no gaps showing through.

The problem is, I still like making stick tang knives so I only have myself to blame!

This one is the guard being made ready for the stacked leather handle I am planning.

If you look on the tang of the blade, you'll see some scratch lines. I do this as I'm fitting the brass, just to prove to myself that it's actually moving along.

So it's pretty much there. Just the final fit to do.

I'm going to cut it to shape and polish the front face before I do any more to it.

Oh, how I wish for a milling machine!
(Feel free to donate one if you have a spare!! )
